This bill mandates that all trustees of public universities in Florida must be residents of Florida. The bill is an attempt to remove conservative education reformer Chris Rufo from his position as a trustee of the New College of Florida. CPAC strongly supports efforts to remove woke indoctrination from universities and believes that Chris Rufo should be allowed to continue his important work at the New College of Florida. CPAC opposed this bill. The Senate passed the bill on May 1st 2025 by a vote of 37-0 but the bill was vetoed by Governor DeSantis.
