HB 426
Enabling the Creation of Frivolous Lawsuits Against Firearms Manufacturers in Hawaii.
2023 - Hawaii House of Representatives
Vote Description

This bill allows individuals to bring private suits against firearms manufacturers that do not implement “reasonable controls” designed to prevent certain types of people from getting their hands on firearms. CPAC does not believe that companies should be held liable for the illegal use of their legal product, recognizes that this measure will encourage a torrent of lawsuit abuse against firearms manufacturers, and opposed this bill. The House passed this bill on March 2, 2023 by a vote of 42-9 and the bill later became law.
