This bill replaces the term “father” with “non-birthing parent” and the term “mother” with “birthing parent” in some public laws. CPAC opposes the erasure of women in public law, further opposes the erasure of men in public law, and opposed this bill. The House passed this bill on May 2, 2023 by a vote of 45-6 and the bill later became law. Note: This bill was given one of Hawaii’s signature “defective dates.”
