SB 944
Dismantling Legal Acknowledgments of the Nuclear Family.
2023 - Hawaii House of Representatives
Vote Description

This bill directs the Department of Health and the Department of the Attorney General to convene a task force to recommend amendments to update existing parentage laws that reflect “outdated, cisheteronormative concepts of families, parenthood, and parental rights.” CPAC recognizes that this measure paves the way for the further destruction of the family and parental rights and opposed this bill. The House passed this bill on May 2, 2023 by a vote of 46-5 and the bill later became law. Note: This bill was given one of Hawaii’s signature “defective dates.”
