This bill makes several changes designed to protect Iowa’s food assistance program from fraud. For example, it requires that the government create a computerized identity authentication process such that it may ensure that the correct qualified individuals are receiving welfare. CPAC supports efforts to secure the welfare system against fraud and supported this bill. The House passed this bill on April 13, 2023 by a vote of 58-41 and the bill later became law.
