Vote Description

This bill prohibits public schools from teaching lessons or holding materials in libraries that are inappropriate for young people to read or experience. The bill also requires that parents be notified about significant changes in their children’s mental health and well-being. Additionally, it requires that parents be permitted to view the instructional materials used by schools. CPAC supports parental rights in education, opposes the use of age-inappropriate materials in schools, and supported this bill. The House passed this bill on April 20, 2023 by a vote of 57-38 and the bill later became law.
