HF 437
Center for Intellectual Freedom Act
2025 - Iowa Senate
Vote Description

HF 437 directs the University of Iowa to create a Center for Intellectual Freedom, which will offer courses in the “historical ideas, traditions, and texts that have shaped the American constitutional order and society.” CPAC believes that students should be exposed to the intellectual foundations of the American tradition, so it supports this bill. HF 437 was passed by the Iowa Senate in a 32-15 vote on April 15, 2025, and it was signed into law by Governor Kim Reynolds.
