2024 - Idaho House of Representatives

Vote Description
This bill establishes new mandatory minimum sentences for fentanyl traffickers. CPAC's Nolan Center for Justice is a national leader in criminal justice reform and works to cut crime, reduce taxpayer costs, protect victims, define the proper scope of government, and safely reduce incarceration rates. CPAC opposes mandatory minimum sentences of this nature, the likes of which reduce judicial discretion and give more power to the government, and opposed this bill. The House passed this bill on January 29, 2024 by a vote of 55-13 and the bill later became law.
