This bill allows certain ex-criminals to petition the government to shield their records from disclosure if they have not committed a crime for 5 years. CPAC’s Nolan Center for Justice is a national leader in conservative solutions to the justice system and works to cut crime, reduce taxpayer costs, protect victims, define the proper scope of government, and safely reduce incarceration rates. CPAC supports efforts to reintegrate ex-criminals back into society and reduce recidivism rates. CPAC, therefore, supported this bill. The Senate passed this bill on March 13, 2023 by a vote of 34-0 and the bill later became law.
