HB 218
Setting the Stage for a Flood of Frivolous Litigation Against Firearms Retailers in Illinois.
2023 - Illinois Senate
Vote Description

This bill prohibits firearms industry members from “knowingly” creating or contributing to an environment that “endangers the health” of the people. This means that gun industry members and other associated entities must now implement “reasonable controls” to ensure that restricted people do not gain access to firearms. CPAC recognizes that this measure will encourage a hailstorm of lawsuits against firearms manufacturers and opposed this bill. The Senate passed this bill on May 18, 2023 by a vote of 34-22 and the bill later became law.
