HB 2862
Preventing Employers from Hiring Temporary Laborers During Strikes.
2023 - Illinois Senate
Vote Description

This bill requires temporary staffing agencies to provide their temporary day laborers with knowledge about any strikes going on at the workplace the agency plans to send them to. It then requires that these employees be given the option to abstain from a work opportunity without experiencing any adverse effects because of this choice. The bill also sets other regulations that such agencies must conform to. CPAC believes that the government should refrain from doing the unions’ dirty work and opposed this bill. The Senate passed this bill on May 17, 2023 by a vote of 49-3 and the bill later became law.
