This bill prohibits entities from releasing data concerning who owns or has applied to own a handgun to the federal government. This restriction can only be circumvented if the entity is asked to release information concerning the suspect of a crime. CPAC supports efforts to reduce the government’s inappropriate surveillance of gun owners and supported this bill. The Senate passed this bill on March 14, 2023 by a vote of 47-0 and the bill later became law.
