This bill attempts to establish a flat tax of 5.25% for all individuals in Kansas. CPAC supports efforts to create broad and flat tax cuts and supported this bill. The House sustained Governor Kelly’s veto of this bill on February 20, 2024 by a vote of 81-42. This bill represents the first of three attempts to pass tax cuts for Kansas’ citizens, each of which were struck down by Governor Kelly. The later two bills were HB 2036 and SB 37.
