SB 226
Streamlining Burdensome Environmental Permitting Processes.
2023 - Kentucky House of Representatives
Vote Description

This bill includes various provisions that streamline the permitting processes established under the Clean Water Act and Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act. For example, it requires the Energy and Environment Cabinet to not impose regulations in some instances that are stricter than what the US Fish and Wildlife Service already has in place. CPAC supports efforts to streamline burdensome permitting processes and supported this bill. The House overrode Governor Beshear’s veto of this bill on March 29, 2023 by a vote of 79-18 and the bill later became law.
