Vote Description

This bill prohibits schools from requiring students and teachers to use a pronoun to refer to a person that does not reflect that person’s sex. It also prohibits teachers from discussing sexual orientation and gender ideology in a manner that deviates from the state’s curriculum for these subjects. CPAC opposes pronoun mandates, opposes the indoctrination of young children into radical Leftist ideology, and supported this bill. The Senate passed this bill on June 5, 2023 by a vote of 29-9 but Governor Edwards’ vetoed the bill.
