SB 5
Strengthening So-Called Hate Crime Laws.
2023 - Maryland House of Representatives

Vote Description
This bill allows defendants to bring a civil action against a plaintiff who has been convicted of a hate crime. CPAC recognizes that the definition of a hate crime is ambiguous and unequally applied to different racial groups, thereby opposes the expansion of hate crime laws, and opposed this bill. The House passed this bill on April 6, 2023 by a vote of 106-31 and the bill later became law.
