This bill makes permanent a fund used by the government to provide qualifying tenants with legal counsel during eviction proceedings. CPAC does not believe that taxpayers should be forced to pay for other people’s legal counsel in civil proceedings and opposed this bill. The Senate passed this bill on March 17, 2023 by a vote of 35-11 and the bill later became law.
