Vote Description

This bill changes the definition of “machine gun” in Maine’s criminal code, potentially sweeping additional firearms or accessories into a more heavily regulated category. This bill is another backdoor gun control measure disguised as technical clarification. CPAC opposes redefining firearms in ways that expand gun control and opposed this bill. The Senate passed this bill on 2025-06-16 by a vote of 19-15. The House passed this bill on 2025-06-17 by a vote of 76-71. The bill did not become law.
