This bill expands eligibility for Maine’s TANF program by changing the asset limit for the program to $10,000 and requiring that a car be exempted from this limit. CPAC opposes measures that increase people’s dependence on the welfare state and opposed this bill. The Senate passed this bill on June 7, 2023 by a vote of 22-13 and the bill later became law.
