This bill sets up the Skilled Nursing Home and Hospital Nurses Retention Loan Repayment Program. Under this program, recent graduates from nursing school may receive up to $18,000 over the course of three years in order to help pay for the costs of their tuition. CPAC does not believe that the government should be using taxpayer funds to pay for other people’s tuition and opposed this bill. The House passed this bill on February 7, 2023 by a vote of 49-3 and the bill later became law.
