This bill prohibits fiduciaries acting on behalf of the state of Montana from considering nonpecuniary factors when making public investments. This means that they may not consider ESG objectives in their decision-making processes. CPAC supports efforts to diminish the influence of ESG standards and supported this bill. The Senate passed this bill on March 16, 2023 by a vote of 33-17 and the bill later became law.
