This bill prohibits, save in a few circumstances, physicians from performing abortions on an unborn baby that has reached 12 weeks of age. The bill also requires physicians to provide information about abortions to women such that they may more properly receive her informed consent. CPAC believes abortion is always a human tragedy, supports restrictions on the practice, and supported this bill. The Senate overrode Governor Cooper’s veto of this bill on May 16, 2023 by a vote of 30-20 and the bill later became law.
