HB 207
Enabling Lawfare Against Conservatives in New Mexico.
2023 - New Mexico House of Representatives
Vote Description

This bill enacts a labyrinthine and convoluted series of provisions in which “gender” (society’s perception of a person’s gender) and “gender identity” (the gender a person perceives themselves to be) are both codified into New Mexico’s human rights law. It also prohibits public contractors from conditioning the provision of their services on the basis of a person’s “gender” and “gender identity.” CPAC recognizes that the extension of human rights law into the nether parts of the LGBT+ ideology will only further enable more frivolous lawsuits against conservatives and opposed this bill. The House passed this bill on March 3, 2023 by a vote of 47-20 and the bill later became law.
