This bill creates the New Mexico Healthcare Authority, the likes of which combines the powers and authorities of disparate departments into one larger agency. The NMHA will perform various oversight functions and will help manage state healthcare resources. CPAC opposes the growth and further empowerment of most government bureaucracies and opposed this bill. The Senate passed this bill on March 6, 2023 by a vote of 25-14 and the bill later became law.
