AB 359
Taking the Power to Directly Control Fuel Tax Increases Away from the People.
2023 - Nevada Assembly
Vote Description

This bill removes a requirement stating that a majority of voters must approve a countywide fuel tax increase before it can go into effect. In its place, the bill allows the county’s board of commissioners to adopt ordinances authorizing such increases without the explicit agreement of voters. CPAC opposes measures that allow for wanton tax increases and opposed this bill. The Assembly passed this bill on April 19, 2023 by a vote of 32-10 but Governor Lombardo vetoed the bill.
