SB 251
Upholding Public Union Interests at the Expense of Students.
2023 - Nevada Assembly
Vote Description

This bill requires local school precincts to hire union-backed teachers from large school districts that are laid off as a result of a situation in which there are too many employees within the large school district. CPAC recognizes that this provision harms the ability of principals to hire teachers that are most suited to the needs of their students, supports the interests of students over those of teachers’ unions, and opposed this bill. The Assembly passed this bill on May 26, 2023 by a vote of 26-14 but Governor Lombardo vetoed the bill.
