SB 117
Breaking The Leftist Stranglehold on Ohio’s Universities
2024 - Ohio House of Representatives
Vote Description

This bill established independent academic centers at five public universities in Ohio to promote civil debate, free inquiry, and intellectual diversity. The centers will also teach about the ideas, traditions and founding texts of American Constitutional order. Leftist activists protested in the capital while the bill was under consideration because the Left is afraid of open discussion and they know that these new centers will undermine their ability to indoctrinate college students. CPAC supports measures to break the Left’s anti-democratic ability to indoctrinate young people and supported this bill. The House passed the bill on June 26, 2024, by a vote of 85-12. (The Senate passed the bill in 2023) The bill became law when it was included in the 2024 budget.
