S 912
Helping People Conceal their Eviction Records from Landlords.
2023 - Rhode Island House of Representatives
Vote Description

This bill allows the court to seal records relating to a person’s eviction proceedings 30 days after that person fulfills the terms of the judgment in the proceedings. CPAC believes that this measure puts landlords at ridiculous risk, believes that landlords should be allowed to know when certain tenants have embroiled their former landlords in costly court battles, and opposed this bill. The House passed this bill on June 15, 2023 by a vote of 51-18 and the bill later became law.
