This bill requires the Department of Environmental Management to designate certain environmental justice focus areas throughout the state. It then requires that businesses, prior to receiving a permit to conduct certain projects in these areas, submit a report considering the environmental impact of their projects. CPAC opposes this measure, the likes of which will raise costs on businesses in the name of fulfilling the Left’s green agenda, and opposed this bill. The Senate passed this bill on May 4, 2023 by a vote of 32-5 but the bill never became law.
