This bill requires independent contractors to register themselves annually with the government in order to maintain their status as “independent contractors.” It then gives the government the authority to withdraw this designation if it fails to receive these annual filings. CPAC opposes these onerous reporting requirements and regulations and opposed this bill. The Senate passed this bill on June 11, 2024 by a vote of 31-5 and the bill later became law.
