This bill authorizes the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs to create a state low-income housing tax credit program on top of the similarly named federal housing program. The cost of this program will reach into the tens of millions of dollars each year. CPAC opposes the endless expansion of government spending and welfare schemes and opposed this bill. The House passed this bill on May 25, 2023 by a vote of 122-15 and the bill later became law.
