This bill cuts off funding to public institutions of higher education that have departments dedicated to promoting DEI in their schools. It also cuts off funding to schools that hire or promote individuals on the basis of their race. CPAC opposes racism, believes that taxpayer funds should not subsidize racist initiatives, and supported this bill. The Senate passed this bill on May 28, 2023 by a vote of 19-12 and the bill later became law.
