SB 8
Attempting to Promote School Choice in Texas.
2023 - Texas Senate
Vote Description

This bill declares that parents have the right to direct the moral upbringing and education of their child. It then creates a school voucher program that gives funds to parents such that they may send their child to a school of their choice. Additionally, the bill gives parents the capacity to know about rapid fluctuations in their child’s mental health. CPAC supports school choice, supports parental rights in education, supports efforts to involve parents in the lives of their children, and supported this bill. The Senate passed this bill on April 6, 2023 by a vote of 18-13 but the bill never became law.
