RC 126
Fighting the Rise in Crime in Washington D.C.
2023 - US Senate

Vote Description
This resolution sponsored by Rep. Andrew Clyde nullifies Washington D.C.’s Comprehensive Policing and Justice Reform Act Amendment of 2022. This piece of legislation unnecessarily burdened D.C. police officers and limited what they can do to detain suspects. For example, it strengthened DEI training in the police force and made various onerous use of force reforms. CPAC opposes Washington D.C.’s permissiveness in allowing criminals to run rampant throughout the city and supported this resolution. The Senate passed this resolution on May 16, 2023 by a vote of 56-43 but the House failed to override President Biden’s veto of this resolution.
