SB 240
Using Taxpayer Funds to Pay Off Other People’s Housing Costs.
2023 - Utah Senate
Vote Description

This bill creates the First-Time Homebuyer Assistance Program. The program will distribute up to $20,000 to first-time homebuyers such that they may pay off their down payments and closing costs and/or secure a permanent reduction in their interest rate. CPAC believes that taxpayers should not be forced to pay the costs of other people’s homes and opposed this bill. The Senate passed this bill on February 22, 2023 by a vote of 28-1 and the bill later became law.
