SB 886
Expanding the Bump-Stock Ban and Criminalizing Law-Abiding Gun Owners Accessories
2025 - Virginia House of Delegates
Vote Description

This bill broadens the definition of a prohibited 'trigger activator,' explicitly including bump stocks, trigger cranks, and similar devices that alter a semi-automatic firearm's rate of fire, while carving out only a narrow exception for certain competitive triggers. It further entrenches accessory bans that punish law-abiding gun owners without addressing criminal misuse. CPAC opposes expanding bans on firearms accessories and opposed this bill. The House passed this bill on 2025-02-20 by a vote of 51-47. The Governor vetoed this bill.
