This bill establishes a covenant homeownership account and program that will assist certain government-favored racial groups in making down payments and closing costs. CPAC does not believe that taxpayers should be forced to pay for other people’s housing, does not believe that the government should consider race as a factor in its decision-making process, and opposed this bill. The House passed this bill on April 17, 2023 by a vote of 52-44 and the bill later became law.
