SB 5078
Promoting Frivolous Litigation Against Firearms Industry Members in Washington.
2023 - Washington Senate
Vote Description

This bill requires that firearms manufacturers implement “reasonable controls” against selling firearms to certain entities. It also prohibits the manufacturer from selling to vendors that do not implement similar controls. CPAC supports the founders’ belief in the Second Amendment, believes that this measure paves the way for a bevy of frivolous lawsuits against firearms manufacturers, further opposes the vague language used in this bill that leaves the definition of “reasonable controls” indeterminate, and opposed this bill. The Senate passed this bill on April 14, 2023 by a vote of 26-20 and the bill later became law.
