10 Arrested for "Planned Ambush" on ICE Detention Facility over Fourth of July Holiday

This July 4th, a coordinated attack targeting an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention facility in Texas led to the arrest of ten individuals, according to state and federal officials. The ten suspects face serious charges, including three counts of attempted murder of a federal officer and three counts of discharging a firearm in relation to a crime of violence. Each charge carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years, with the possibility of life imprisonment. This violence comes after a growing trend of far-left activism and rhetoric calling for violence over President Trump's enforcement of immigration policies.

U.S. Attorney Nancy Larson of Northern Texas condemned the incident, stating, “This was an egregious attack on federal and local law enforcement officers, and it is part of an increasing trend of violence against them.” According to Alvarado police, the ambush began when an officer responding to the scene attempted to engage with a suspect. An unknown number of assailants opened fire, striking one officer in the neck. The injured officer was airlifted to a Fort Worth hospital, where they were treated and later released.

White House Deputy Chief of Staff Steven Miller framed it as part of a broader “insurrectionist movement” targeting federal immigration enforcement. Miller claimed, “There is an insurrectionist movement in the Democrat Party that is inspiring domestic terrorism against ICE,” arguing that such actions meet the legal threshold for insurrection under 10 U.S.C. § 12406. He further criticized California’s leadership for allegedly failing to protect federal personnel during lawful immigration operations, suggesting that the White House has the authority to intervene.

The incident coincides with heightened tensions over President Trump's enforcement of immigration policy. On the same day as the ambush, reports surfaced of Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass disrupting an immigration raid in an area known for MS-13 gang activity, with Bass reportedly demanding that ICE agents “leave right now.” Meanwhile, an article in The Atlantic advocating for the doxxing of immigration officers added fuel to the controversy.

This reckless rhetoric emboldens attacks on federal agents and undermines immigration law enforcement. This July 4th anti-American targeted attack on law enforcement is part of a growing trend of violence from the left. Democrat leaders must enforce law and order, not incite this type of senseless violence.
