US, China Put 90-Day Pause on Trade War With Tariffs Reduction

U.S. and Chinese officials said Monday they had reached a deal to roll back most of their recent tariffs and call a 90-day truce in their trade war for more talks on resolving their trade disputes.

Center for Regulatory Freedom Contributes to Trump First 100 Days Deregulation

CPAC Foundation’s Center for Regulatory Freedom (CRF) has engaged with the Trump administration directly in its first 100 days to secure several policy victories for the conservative movement.

CRF has played a key role in the federal rulemaking process, gaining increased influence during President Trump’s term due to his emphasis on deregulation. In his first 100 days back in office, CRF secured two regulatory victories and expects more as the administration continues to solicit public input on executive policies:

SSA Removes "Gender-Inclusive Language" Following CRF's Comments

Problem: During the transition between President Trump’s electoral victory and his inauguration, the Social Security Administration (SSA) announced plans to modify Social Security records to incorporate "gender-inclusive language."

Action: CRF submitted comments opposing this move, arguing that the inclusion of "gender-inclusive language" contradicted Executive Order 14168, “Defending Women from Gender Ideology Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government.”

Response: Following CRF’s comments, the SSA issued a correction on February 20, removing gender references from Social Security records in direct response to the concerns raised by CRF, ensuring compliance with Executive Order 14168.

CRF's Input Sparks FCC Revision of Georouting Proposal

Problem: In November 2024, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) proposed a rule requiring text providers to share georouting data from messages sent to the 988 Lifeline.

Action: CRF raised privacy concerns about mandatory georouting, particularly for individuals with mental health issues who expect confidentiality when reaching out to the 988 Lifeline. CRF also recommended an informed consent model as an alternative to georouting.

Response: On March 4, the FCC issued a “Third Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking,” specifically requesting additional feedback on the privacy concerns raised and acknowledging the informed consent approach suggested by CRF.

CRF has been instrumental in influencing key policy changes, offering direct input on important issues such as border enforcement, healthcare, and environmental regulations. As the administration continues to tackle the remaining waste, fraud, and abuse within the federal government, CRF will remain at the forefront, working to secure additional victories and protect taxpayer interests. Through direct engagement with federal agencies, CRF has helped drive the administration’s efforts to curb government overreach and enforce accountability, and anticipates more impactful changes in the coming months.
