During National Police Week 2025, CPAC’s Center for Combating Human Trafficking held a pivotal event in Washington, D.C., uniting Trump administration officials, survivor leaders, law enforcement, and representatives from the Virginia and Kentucky Attorneys General offices to address modern-day slavery. This gathering underscored a collaborative approach that is necessary to dismantling human trafficking networks and supporting survivors.
The event featured firsthand accounts from survivors, providing critical insights into the complexities of trafficking and emphasizing the necessity of survivor-informed policies. Officials from President Trump’s Health and Human Services Department discussed initiatives aimed at victim support and rehabilitation, and law enforcement representatives shared strategies and challenges in identifying and prosecuting traffickers.

A significant highlight was the discussion on the Trafficking Survivors Relief Act (TSRA), legislation supported by CPAC and introduced in Congress in October 2024. The TSRA offers a legal framework to vacate convictions for crimes committed by individuals under coercion from traffickers, marking a shift towards recognizing and rectifying injustices faced by survivors.
This event exemplified a unified front against human trafficking, combining legislative action, survivor advocacy, and law enforcement collaboration. By fostering dialogue among diverse stakeholders, CPAC's Center for Combating Human Trafficking continues to play a crucial role in the national effort to eradicate modern-day slavery and support those affected.
