CPAC: Zohran Mamdani's 2024 Voting Record One of Most Radical in Albany

New York City, the largest city in the United States, could soon be taken over by a radical socialist by the name of Zohran Mamdani. Mamdani is a candidate in the New York City mayoral race and is currently a member of the New York State Assembly.

Assemblymember Mamdani’s record reveals one of the most radical agendas in Albany, earning him a 0% CPAC rating in 2024 and a lifetime score of just 3%. Mamdani has consistently sided with extreme Leftist policies that undermine New York’s economic health, public safety, and core freedoms. He voted to punish businesses with massive climate related expenses (S 2129), expand the welfare state through endless subsidies and housing handouts (A 8027, A 6982, S 3546), and drive diversity quotas into the heart of private business and government agencies (A 8555, A 7532).

Even more troubling, Mamdani backed bills that erode election integrity (S 610), advance gender ideology by protecting radical procedures on minors and rewriting public records (S 8006, S 8058, A 8241), and subject law-abiding gun owners to new forms of tracking and surveillance (S 8479, A 8333). This pattern of votes shows an unwavering commitment to growing the bureaucracy, weakening constitutional rights, and forcing taxpayers to bankroll the Left’s ideological experiments. What's also revealing are the pieces he did not sign. Notably, Mamdani declined to sign annual resolutions in 2024 and 2025 condemning the Holocaust and supporting Israel.

Mamdani’s Worst Hits of 2024

CPAC assessed Mamdani's 2024 voting record, revealing a commitment to far-left principles:

S 8479 - Making it Substantially Easier to Track Gun Owners

This bill requires payment card networks to use different merchant category codes for firearms dealers. CPAC opposes this attempt to surveil law-abiding gun owners and opposed this bill. The Assembly passed this bill on June 7, 2024 by a vote of 90-51 but the bill did not become law.

S 2812 - Growing New York’s Taxation by Citation System.

This bill quadruples the number of traffic-control signal photo violation-monitoring devices that may be installed in New York City. CPAC opposes automated speed monitoring systems and opposed this bill. The Assembly passed this bill on June 8, 2024 by a vote of 100-40 but the bill never became law.

S 8058 Strengthening New York’s Protections for Gender Mutilation Procedures.

This bill prohibits courts from finding a parent or guardian guilty of neglect or mistreatment for helping their child receive radical gender treatments. CPAC opposes the gratification of transgenderism and opposed this bill. The Assembly passed this bill on February 14, 2024 by a vote of 97-48 and the bill later became law.

A 8333 - Seeking Out New Types of Handguns to Regulate.

This bill creates a new regulatory and reporting status targeted at personalized handguns. CPAC opposes this attempt to surveil gun owners and opposed this bill. The Assembly passed this bill on June 5, 2024 by a vote of 94-51 but the bill did not become law.

A 8869 Pushing Electric Vehicles with the Aid of the State Apparatus.

This bill requires the government to create an electric vehicle fast charging station implementation plan. CPAC supports all forms of energy, believes that the government should not support one form of energy over another, and opposed this bill. The Assembly passed this bill on May 16, 2024 by a vote of 132-12 but the bill did not become law.

A 9711 Raising Costs on Taxpayers with New Contractor Mandates.

This bill prohibits companies that contract with the state from contributing to tropical forest degradation. CPAC opposes measures that further increase the cost of public contractors to gratify Leftist climate ideology and opposed this bill. The Assembly passed this bill on May 13, 2024 by a vote of 101-44 but the bill did not become law.

Mamdani’s record is clear: he puts the interests of progressive activists and union bosses above New York families and small businesses. If given the chance, he will continue to reshape New York City into a testing ground for reckless spending, heavy-handed mandates, and ideological social engineering at the expense of hardworking taxpayers and the fundamental freedoms they cherish.
