Former Minnesota Congressman Dean Phillips (D-MN) appeared on My View with Lara Trump to address the tragic assassination of Turning Point USA Founder and Executive Director Charlie Kirk. He urged solidarity between political parties and a recommitment to core American principles to combat political violence. Phillips emphasized that such acts threaten the very foundation of democratic discourse.
"Not only was Charlie assassinated, but a part of our core American principles was also lost," Phillips stated. Kirk championed constructive dialogue over violence, believing that resorting to violence only deepens division and reflects a failure to resolve differences through debate. Phillips called on politicians and influencers to honor Kirk’s legacy by uniting in adversity and engaging in peaceful debate. "Spend time together, attend events, and instead of attacking, listen, learn, educate, and debate—that is the only way forward," he said. By fostering mutual respect and open communication, Phillips believes the nation can heal and grow stronger. He concluded by encouraging leaders to model civility and reject divisive rhetoric to prevent future tragedies.
