This past Independence Day, America took a bold stand against human trafficking and exploitation with the signing of the One, Big, Beautiful Bill by President Trump. This landmark legislation is a decisive blow to cartels, a lifeline for vulnerable families, and a testament to the conservative vision of strong borders, fiscal responsibility, and objective moral clarity. For many, this past July 4th will have greater significance as Independence Day, being freed from human trafficking, weak border policies, and a country subject to rampant crime and drugs.
Director of CPAC’s Center for Combating Human Trafficking Frank Russo penned an op-ed this week for Real America’s Voice highlighting how this historic legislation is a major victory for families, victims of human trafficking, and the American dream.
“Children trafficked. Families exploited. Cartels thriving while Washington looked away,” wrote Russo. These stark realities defined an era of lax policies and open borders by the Biden Administration over the last four years. The One, Big, Beautiful Bill, however, marks a turning point, dismantling the shadows where traffickers thrive and restoring the law and order that protects American families.
The bill has received a lot of attention for its fiscal and economic elements, but Russo highlights in his commentary that the bill not only demonstrates economic leadership and fiscal responsibility but features a comprehensive crackdown on human trafficking by equipping and empowering the Departments of Justice, Health and Human Services, and Labor to combat modern-day slavery.
“This isn’t just about border control - it’s about reclaiming moral clarity,” wrote Russo.
