Statement from Matt Schlapp

My message to young people who are so impacted by Charlie Kirk:

You'd make Charlie awfully proud if you continued fighting. But also if you fought in a way where at the end of the day, you can go have a cup of coffee with someone who you disagree with, and show that there's a humanity to this important endeavor that we're involved in.

In September 2025, Iran’s hostile actions against Australia, a key Western ally, demonstrated its true nature as a state sponsor of terrorism. After Australian authorities uncovered evidence tying Tehran to antisemitic arson attacks on Jewish community centers in Sydney and Melbourne, Iran responded by cutting diplomatic ties. This was not a diplomatic misstep but a deliberate act of defiance, consistent with Iran’s decades-long pattern of exporting terror and targeting Jewish communities.

Iran’s campaign of terror, orchestrated by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the Iranian Intelligence Ministry, extends far beyond the Middle East. The attacks in Australia reveal a chilling escalation, with Tehran’s networks now infiltrating cities like Sydney and Melbourne. This is a calculated strategy to sow fear, spread antisemitism, and undermine Western security. Iran’s fundamentalist ideology, rooted in hostility toward Israel and the United States, drives its global terror operations. When confronted with evidence of its actions, Tehran’s response is not cooperation but aggression, exposing its true character as a terror state fueled by hatred and violence.

The implications of Iran’s actions demand a unified response from the West. The targeting of Jewish communities in Australia signals that no nation is beyond Tehran’s reach. The Five Eyes alliance, alongside other Western powers, must recognize Iran as a direct threat to global security. Australia’s move to designate the IRGC as a terrorist organization sets a precedent that nations like the United Kingdom, the European Union, and New Zealand should follow. Weak concessions have only emboldened Iran in the past, allowing it to expand its influence, arm proxies, and finance terror. A strong, coordinated response—through crippling sanctions, intelligence cooperation, and diplomatic expulsions—can dismantle Iran’s terror networks and expose its deceptive diplomacy.

Iran’s brazen attack on Australia’s Jewish communities and its subsequent diplomatic retaliation are a warning to the free world. This is not a regime seeking peace but one thriving on terror and intimidation. The United States and its allies must act decisively, leveraging economic pressure, military deterrence, and international unity to confront Tehran’s aggression. Failure to respond with strength will only invite further attacks, endangering more communities and emboldening a regime that respects only power. Now is the time for the West to stand firm and make clear that Iran’s reign of terror will face unrelenting consequences.
