Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem delivered a powerful speech at CPAC’s 3rd Annual International Summit Against Human Trafficking, held at the U.S. Capitol this week. "The evil of human trafficking cannot be overstated. It’s modern-day slavery," Noem declared, condemning the Biden Administration for enabling what she described as the largest human-trafficking operation in modern history through destructive open border policies. She emphasized the Trump Administration’s commitment to dismantling trafficking networks, highlighting the urgent need to locate 300,000 unaccounted-for migrant children.
Noem highlighted the role of federal agencies in combating trafficking, particularly through the efforts of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) officers. "We have several agencies that have become specifically skilled and trained to fight human trafficking," she stated, praising the dedication of law enforcement in rescuing victims despite facing attacks and doxxing from detractors. She called for stronger legislative measures, such as the Trafficking Survivors Relief Act, to provide criminal record relief for victims and hold traffickers accountable, aligning with CPAC’s advocacy for victim-focused policies.
Noem expressed a vision for eradicating human trafficking, urging bipartisan cooperation and public engagement to end this modern-day slavery. "We have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to stop this scourge and save lives," she said, rallying Americans to support survivor leaders and policy advocates. The summit, which featured speakers like Senator Marsha Blackburn and Border Czar Tom Homan, aimed to unite global and domestic efforts to end modern-day slavery, with Noem’s speech reinforcing the Trump Administration’s aggressive stance on border security and victim protection.
