Kurt Schlichter is a retired U.S. Army Infantry Colonel who currently serves as a Senior Columnist for Townhall and a frequent contributor to outlets like Fox News and Newsmax. Over a 27-year military career that spanned active duty and the California Army National Guard, Schlichter rose to the rank of full colonel, commanding the 1st Squadron, 18th Cavalry Regiment and earning the Legion of Merit. A veteran of both Operation Desert Storm and Operation Enduring Freedom (Kosovo), he was also mobilized for domestic missions, including the Los Angeles riots and the Northridge earthquake. In his legal career, he is a 1994 graduate of Loyola Law School and a successful trial lawyer and partner in a Los Angeles-area firm, where he has represented major corporations and high-profile conservative figures. Also a prolific author, Schlichter is well-known for his Kelly Turnbull series of political thrillers, including his 2025 release American Apocalypse, and his non-fiction works such as Militant Normals and We’ll Be Back, consistently advocating for conservative America First policies and a robust national defense.
