On Newsmax’s Newsline with host Bianca de la Garza, CPAC Chairman Matt Schlapp and Dr. Nan Hayworth, a board member of the Independent Women’s Forum and former U.S. Representative from New York, analyzed the intensifying conflict between Israel and Iran, focusing on President Donald Trump’s potential response and the viability of diplomatic solutions.

The discussion centered on Iran’s nuclear ambitions, with President Trump repeatedly vowing to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. Schlapp criticized past U.S. administrations, particularly those of Presidents Obama and Biden, for their roles in United Nations policies that he claims have enabled Iran’s nuclear program by providing financial support.

“The UN is complicit in all this,” Schlapp stated, arguing that the organization plays a minimal role in effective diplomacy. Instead, he emphasized that the key players are Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, President Trump, and Iran’s government.

“This is going to come down to Bibi Netanyahu, Donald Trump, and this government in Iran,” Schlapp said, underscoring Trump’s firm stance against a nuclear-armed Iran, which he warned would destabilize the Middle East and threaten global security.

De la Garza mentioned a recent article by Hugo Lowell in The Guardian, titled “Trump caution on Iran strike linked to doubts over ‘bunker buster’ bomb, officials say,” which suggested that President Trump might be hesitant to escalate U.S. involvement due to concerns about the effectiveness of the "bunker buster" bombs.

De la Garza countered this narrative, citing Israeli officials who assert that Israel has successfully weakened Iran through recent strikes and maintains control over Iranian airspace.

Dr. Hayworth reinforced this perspective, noting that Israel’s military actions demonstrate confidence in their capabilities and the existential nature of the threat posed by Iran. “They knew the risks going in,” Hayworth remarked, suggesting that Israel’s strikes were carefully calculated to counter Iran’s growing influence, which poses an existential threat.
