CPAC Foundation’s Nolan Center for Justice celebrates the recent pardoning of Todd and Julie Chrisley, parents of our Senior Fellow, Savannah Chrisley, by President Donald J. Trump. This decision not only brings relief to the Chrisley family but also underscores the urgent need for continued reform in our criminal justice system.
Todd and Julie Chrisley, known from the reality show "Chrisley Knows Best," were prosecuted under political circumstances years ago resulting in a combined 19-year prison sentence. Nolan Center for Justice Senior Fellow Savannah Chrisley, has been a tireless advocate for their release, providing evidence of prosecutorial misconduct and political bias in their case. A recent Office of Inspector General (OIG) report supported claims that Georgia investigators improperly accessed the Chrisleys’ financial records, highlighting the systemic issues within our justice system.
As a Senior Fellow at the Nolan Center, Savannah utilized her platform to champion criminal justice reform and fairness in the application of our Nation’s laws. She spoke at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) and met with officials at the White House, emphasizing the broader implications of her parents' case. Her advocacy reflects the Nolan Center's mission to address injustices and promote a fairer legal system.
The Chrisleys' pardon serves as a reminder of the disparities that can exist within our legal framework – regardless of age, wealth, background, or political beliefs. While their release is a victory for restoring integrity to our criminal system, it also highlights the countless others who may be unjustly incarcerated due to selective applications of the law. The Nolan Center for Justice views this moment as both a celebration and a call to action. We must persist in our efforts to identify and rectify the shortcomings of our criminal justice system, ensuring that fairness and integrity are upheld for all.
