NYT Hit Piece on Sean Duffy Shows Anti-Family Prejudice

New York Times pro-abortion, anti-family journalist Caroline Kitchener recently published a hit piece titled “The MTV Reality Star in Trump’s Cabinet Who Wants You to Have More Kids,” targeting US Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy. Kitchener questions Duffy's motives for having a large family, and according to his wife, why she hasn’t already had an abortion. The article demonstrates Kitchener's and the NYT's prejudice for family values by attacking Duffy and his family.

Duffy responded to the NYT hit piece as a personal attack and aimed at the Trump Administration, “With all the serious issues facing our country, the New York Times decided to dispatch a former abortion correspondent (cosplaying now as a “family” expert) for a hit piece on me and the Trump administration.”

Throughout the article, Kitchener claims Duffy is using his family as a political prop to display a “macho-traditionalist” image. “As the Trump administration seeks to both exude macho masculinity and encourage men to settle down, some conservatives see Mr. Duffy as an important cultural figure who offers a middle way” wrote Kitchener.

She goes on to outline Duffy sending his sons to a rosary-wielding summer camp, to Duffy’s role in the MTV show, “The Real World”. She attempts to lead the reader from his time as a “playboy” actor to a regressive family man, “Sean Duffy, once the resident playboy on “The Real World,” is now a father of nine who presents his family as an example for America.” Her only argument is that Duffy displays his family life publicly and that this somehow incriminates him in a regressive agenda. This display by Kitchener outright exposes her anti-family prejudice.

Duffy’s daughter, Evita Duffy-Alfonso, posted on X her shock at Kitchener bombarding her mother with questions if she considered aborting her: “The NYT just published a hit piece on my family, accusing my dad of using us as political props for his career. The writer, Caroline Kitchener, is an abortion reporter who now claims to be a “family” journalist. But it’s clear she hates family, given how much the size of ours disturbs her. One of the deranged questions she bombarded my parents with was if they considered aborting their first child — me. The truth is simple: we’re not a prop, a brand, or some act. We’re a real, loving, faithful, joyful family — and @CAKitchener is bitter and a creep.”

CPAC Senior Fellow and host of America UnCanceled Mercedes Schlapp posted on X, commenting on the debacle, “I’ve known the Duffy Family for years. They’re a loving family, and the NYT article bashing them just shows how obsessed reporters are with demonizing women who want to raise children,” said Schlapp. Kitchener in the NYT article demonstrated the far left’s agenda of demonizing family values and women who choose to foster a loving family.

Secretary Duffy has so far dismissed the ludicrous hit piece aimed and him and his family, instead pointing to the real issues facing the country. “Let the NYT goof off. I’m laser-focused on making transportation great again—modernizing air traffic control, rebuilding bridges, and reviving U.S. commercial shipping through a reinvigorated Merchant Marine Academy. While they obsess over my beautiful family, I’m working for yours," said Duffy.
